Thoughts of the Week

Total Words This Week: 5,343
Decided to list some of my thoughts I've had during the week to give you a little more insight on my progress and/or struggles.
  • When I knew I was ahead I started to slack more on the writing because I had the reassurance that I was ahead but once I was ahead I wanted to stay ahead. I was able to keep this up pretty well till the last week.
  • I forced myself to write when I wasn't in the mood and most times was able to hit my goals. The only times I had 0 words was because I wasn't inspired or was tired so I didn't even try. Lesson: Write anyways because some words are better than none. But I'm also in the camp where I don't like forcing myself to write every day or I'll get burnt out....
  • I ended up writing random scenes during the end of this week because I wasn't sure where the story was going because a plot point kind of derailed me. Also I didn't clearly plan the characters so I wrote and named them as I went.
  • Overall, still a fun story to write and will complete. It ended up being much longer than expected which is funny because I always thought I was an underwriter. I was supposed to write 2 short stories but I got 1 unfinished novella.
  • Still enjoyed writing the draft though. I know it will require a lot of editing and refinement but all stories do. :)

Thoughts of the Week

Total Words This Week: 5,478

Decided to list some of my thoughts I've had during the week to give you a little more insight on my progress and/or struggles.

  • Seems I'm able to write the amount of words I need (667) daily in about a half hour to 45 minutes depending on how motivated or inspired I am.
  • I can consistently write about 700 words a day, maybe even more but I don't want to push myself too much or I may get burned out. This seems like an acceptable daily word count but I may up it to 800 after the month if I can.
  • I'm realizing I'm using a bunch of filler words and gestures. I'm going to need to edit a lot.
  • The story isn't even nearly done, it will likely be a novella.
  • I thought I'd spend more time writing during my vacation this week but I ended working on other projects I've been wanting to do for months which is great because it will help support my writing. I still was able to go above the word goals but I wanted to finish it by then but I mostly spent it trying to recover and relax.
  • Part of the previous bullet, I'm planning to move blogs after I finish with Campnano. All my content will move to the new blog so please keep a look out! I'll be announcing it on my social media as well! I'm excited to share it with you guys!

Thoughts of the Week

Total Words This Week: 4,887

Decided to list some of my thoughts I've had during the week to give you a little more insight on my progress and/or struggles.

  • Dictating is still easier than typing everything out, even when I have to make corrections.
  • Unfortunately when I'm so focused on writing, I don't always realize that the dictation of the words didn't come out right so I didn't fix it. Still don't have the time to correct it all since I'm typically writing right before bed. This will be fun to clean up during revisions/edits. / end sarcasm
  • Missed a day because I spent the afternoon on Friday to hang out with a friend. It was fun and I needed it but fortunately I was able to get ahead enough that it didn't even make a dent to my word goal. Unfortunately, that also means I no longer have a buffer. lol
  • As always, I write best when I can visualize what's going on before I write or dictate the scene.
  • This story will no longer be a short story but likely a novelette or maybe even a novella.

Thoughts of the Week

Total Words This Week: 4,887

Decided to list some of my thoughts I've had during the week to give you a little more insight on my progress and/or struggles.

  • Dictating using Google Document Voice typing is super convenient but the recognition is not bad but not great for story telling. I think it'd be good for basic things like lists but for story telling or complex words it's a little frustrating and I have to delete words that were interpreted wrong.
  • It's a bit annoying when it automatically capitalizes some words and it doesn't have a verbal command for using quotation marks so I have to type it in manually.
  • I apparently mumble or slur my words so I need to slow down for the words to recognize but it does make it easier than typing everything. This also helps with my articulation and pronunciation since I don't really like to talk much. It doesn't always recognize the words I say accurately and I don't really have time to revise the day I write it so some words are off.
  • I had been a bit worried about the story since I had a rough outline but didn't know a lot of the details but so far it's been working out. Adding characters as I go has been fun.
  • The story may be longer than a short story, I've just started the story and already at half the word count a short story should be so it might be a novelette.

WIP Progress + April 2018 CampNanoWriMo

(I'm so excited to win a copy of Sightwitch by Susan Dennard during a Clan Chat! That cover is dazzling and the book is signed! Plus everyone can always use a tote bag, I'll be using this for shopping. ^_~)

I know! An update post on my writing has been long overdue. Apologies!

I've been slowly making progress on revisions for my latest WIP, I've decided I'm changing the name of the novel but the title is still to be determined. The story has changed and grown more than I expected since I started it. It's funny, I thought this story would be quick and easy to write but several years later....nope. To be fair, I was busy doing other things and living my life but now that I had time away I am able to be more objective in my revisions but I struggle with identifying how to make it better.

I had my suspicions something felt amiss, especially since Sedric didn't once take his eyes off the piece of paper with the pizza orders. He took the pad and walked to the far corner of the room, "I'm going to order the pizzas now. Last chance to change your orders."

Chase and Dylan walked over to listen in on his order to make sure that he ordered correctly. Zadie walked over towards me, "That was odd, wasn't it?" I made sure that Sedric was preoccupied before nodding, "Yeah, I didn't trust them."

"We tried to keep them away from your personal items," Eddy said, "But they were pretty slippery."

"I appreciate it," I said taking a deep breath and releasing it, "I couldn't keep my eyes on them the entire time."

Eddy leaned in, "We can do a sweep of your apartment before we go, to make sure that they didn't put any bugs or cameras in here."

I nodded, "Thanks." Having them sweep the rooms would reassure me that they hadn't done or tampered with anything. Still I couldn't fight the chills that gave me goosebumps from having Griffith and Ottis in my apartment.

Thoughts of the Month

Total Words This Month: 4,007

Yikes, this month was not very productive at all! So many things hit me at once. I just couldn't get motivated to write. :(
  • Started ok the first week but then I had to prepare for vacation the next week but we were leaving on this Saturday. I did not plan ahead and has last minute things to do before packing.
  • The 2nd week of the month was my vacation. I had a great time but we drove all day Saturday then the following Saturday on the way back. It made me exhausted. It took some time for me to recuperate and to unpack.
  • Don't really have a good excuse for the last two weeks other than trying to get readjusted to my normal schedule.
  • I did have some terrible back pain where it hurt to sit. I think it was something I ate but I have no idea what it was so that worried me.
  • I went to a local YA Author Festival which was fun on the fourth Saturday of the month.
  • Unmotivated to write I decided to read instead and that's been helping. Especially since I'm terribly behind on my TBR list.
Overall, not my best Wrimo but it's still better than nothing. I'll continue aiming to finish this story but looks like it'll take a little longer than I wanted. Also I'm hoping to get some revision and editing done in August. Not sure what projects or how that's going to work out yet but I'm thinking about it.

How did you guys do for your Campnano? Better than me I hope! :D

I checked the time and realized it was getting late and that I still needed to shower. I hopped out of the pool and grabbed my towel. When I pulled it up something fluttered to the ground. I picked it up and saw it was a name and phone number. Seriously? Ok. She was way too young for me. I crumpled it up and tossed it. I then walked to the locker room and felt the glare of the life guard from earlier. Great...I'll have to watch my back next time I come here.

I showered quickly this time even though I longed to stay under the steaming heat of the shower. I changed and left the locker room. I lifted my head and saw something move by the door. I shook my head. I needed to stop being paranoid.

I left the gym and headed home glad it was a close walk. Something made the hairs on the back of my neck stand and I turned around. I didn't see anything and I didn't know what made me hyper aware that something or someone was watching me.

It was getting unnerving.

I glanced at my timer and shook my head. "No regrets," I whispered to myself. I stared down at the water watching my reflection. I could see I was tired from the lack of sleep. Luckily I didn't need to be on camera at all tomorrow otherwise they was going to need a lot of make up to cover up the bags under my eyes.

My eyes drifted back towards the cabin where Victoria thundered off to and a lit window caught my eye. There was a person staring out the window. I could see the silhouette but before I could identify who it was the light shut off. I didn't need to guess who it was though because I knew it was Victoria's room.
After staring awhile I turned away and pulled my hood over my head to help block out the chill from the wind. I slipped my hand into my pocket retrieving my phone. I pressed the power button and it immediately purred to life. I didn't bother to hide the smile that appeared on my face. I went to check my email and decided to play some games as I continued to sit outside through the night.

I stood up, "Why is my love life being analyzed by you guys? Is it that surprising that I can't have a serious non-romantic female friend?" I asked jabbing my fingers at both Amelia and Zadie. Amelia looked slightly embarrassed while Zadie wrinkled her nose.

The coffee beeped and Sedric went to get some cups that were sitting on the drying rack. I crossed over to the coffee as Sedric poured for everyone.

Amelia held up a placating hand, "While it's true you are able to have a platonic relationship, we feel that there is a little more between you two."

I took a sip relenting, "Fine. IF there is something going on, please explain it to me."

She slid a sidelong glance at the others. Turning to Sedric she said, "Maybe you should have a go at it."

Momentarily stunned at being put on the spot Sedric coughed on his coffee. "Why me?"

Amelia looked up at him, "You can explain it more to him from a male's perspective."

Dylan put his head on his cupped hands, his elbows on the table. "Daddy, will you tell us about the birds and the bees?"

Mason opened his mouth to say something but suddenly there was a knock on the door. "Mason? Chase? Are you guys in there?" Mason stood straighter and I knew it was Victoria. I recognized her voice.

"Yeah! Be out in a second!" he called.

I raised an eyebrow at him. He looked at me and cringed, "Too eager?"

I snorted and shook my head and pulled out my cell phone, "What's your number? Let's finish this conversation another time. Preferably after work."

He stared at me a moment before realizing what I was saying. He quickly rattled off his number and I sent him mine. Afterwards we exited the bathroom where Victoria and Grace was waiting.

Graced sniffed, "And I thought girls took a long time in the bathroom."

Turning around I gaped, that wasn't what I wanted. "Wait!" She turned around looking at me hauntingly. I was going to have to tell her the truth. Defeated I said, "Look, Dylan is interested in you guys. I was trying to find a way to get out of his way." I rubbed the back of my neck, "Apparently he thinks you both are more interested in me than him."

Victoria turned red, "That's absurd."

Relieved I laughed, "That's what I said." I stood a little straighter, "I just wanted him to have a little more one-on-one time with you guys so I was going to have a little get away afterwards."

A library meeting was a good idea, hopefully it would be secluded enough and no one would be nosy enough to eavesdrop on us.

Soon we were sitting in the library at one of the tables in a corner. I could hear the wind picking up but I felt safe enough for now. The rain was pattering so I knew the hurricane was just starting. I had been flipping through a magazine but wasn't really paying attention. I was too wound up. I glanced around and there didn't seem to be too many people in there at the moment with most of the people still trying to settle in for the long haul.

Eddy and Leah finally made their way to us. They looked like they would fall over at the slightest gust of wind.

Eddy straightened up and leaned towards us in a low voice, "So what did you need to talk to us about?"
I glanced at Dylan who stared back at me with a haunted expression. It appears that he heard or saw what happened too at John's final moments. "It's about the timer," I responded cryptically.

Layla shook her head, "Sometime things are better not to be messed with because they aren't meant to be understood."

"Is that what you think?" I asked arms resting on the ledge.

She shrugged, "I don't know what to think but I think we should trust them."

"I agree. I think they would let us know when they're ready," Dylan said as traced the water absently.

"True, they are good at explaining when ready but they're not so good at things before then," I muttered. The others bowed their heads in silent agreement.

Dylan finally broke the silence, "That's it. I'm done with all this downer talk. I'm done spending all my time worrying during my vacation. Let's play." He splashed all of us and grabbed for a nearby basketball spinning it on his finger, "Ok, who want's to play HORSE?"

April 2014 Campnanowrimo + 2012 Sketch Dump

Campnanowrimo for April is quickly approaching! I'm going to try to crack out two novella first drafts at what I think will be 20k each. It might be more or less but the goal is 40k words for the month and project. :)

I've got my cabin mates and they look like a wonderful lively bunch. I'm excited to get going. I shouldn't be because I've not worked on my outlines much at all. Still, can't help but bounce with excitement at getting this project started.

Time to get some projects finished! Follow me on Twitter to keep up with my progress! I'll also try to update my weekly status.

Are you guys going to be joining in? Let's cheer each other on! :D

Homework Sketch Dump 27 + April Campnanowrimo 2014

I'm still working on CampNanoWrimo stuff. Mostly outlines and trying to figure out the story line/time line. Yeah I know that's kind of vague but the week before April I'll go ahead and give a brief summary of the story. It'll be interesting as I've been bouncing the idea off a few friends who appear to be extremely interested in the story. I still have a few kinks I need to work out though. lol

Speaking of that, would anyone be interested in joining my cabin this April Campnano? My username is "aisazia" and since it has to be a mutual acceptance you'll have to share your username with me. :) The only thing I ask is that you'll be active. I've done it before but my cabin mate quickly fell off the wagon...Hoping to not have that happen this time around.

Comment or contact me if you're interested! :)
