2014 Nanowrimo Noble Failure + Website

Here's my Nanowrimo Noble Failure. Yeah, it's not too impressive but not bad since that is all hand written. This year was not my best. I got stuck early on and then life began to hit me all at once. Without going into all the details the gist is: family, job interviewing, and glutened. lol

There were a few days I could have written but I didn't. Mostly because I didn't feel like it and then decided I needed a website. For those of you not following me on twitter, I created a new personal/small business website portfolio! Check it out at EAHuey.com and let me know what you think!

I haven't been reading, sketching, or writing anything lately which I miss dearly. I have not been able to manage my time as efficiently these days because of the emotional and physical drains.

I hope that you all did well with Nanowrimo! I will still be attempting to edit my current projects. Hopefully I'll be able to do so more during Winter break but I have a feeling my family will want to do things which I won't say no to because they probably wouldn't take no as an answer. Plus it is becoming more rare for me to see them so I won't deny my time with them.

By the way, still looking for people willing to beta my books! So if you like YA fantasty, scifi, or paranormal feel free to contact me! :D

2014 Nanowrimo Wk 1 - WritingProject: WYDM Intro and Update #1

Would You Date Me?!

Want to follow my daily progress? Follow me at:

Project Goal: To get a first draft of a romance/contemporary novel.

Stage of writing: First Draft

What inspired my current project: A story that was going to be based off a couple of characters in my head that were supposed to be a comic. Then I realized I need a story before I actually draw it. lol

Last Update WC: 0
Week's Total WC: 8,400
Total Story WC: 8,400

Daily WC:

  2. 2,075
  3. 2,200
  4. 2,200
  5. 0
  6. 0
  7. 0
If you're curious about my math (I adjust as needed but I always underestimate my current word count):

  • Write 7 pages like normal in my current Staples Sustainable Earth Composition Notebook
  • Count words by line for each of those 7 pages then divided by number of lines on the page (25 lines)
  • Take averages of all 7 pages then find average words per line = 11.2 words
  • 11 (words) x 25 (lines) = 275 words per page
  • 1667 (daily word count) / 275 = 6.06 pages
  • Round up and overestimate word count = 7 pages a day

Thus I need to write at least 7 pages a day to make my daily word count.

No excerpts since I'm hand writing everything and don't want to type it up as I go but have some blurred pictures instead! lol *dodges tomatoes*

Nanowrimo 2014 + Inktober

Happy Belated Halloween and Nanowrimo!

So, I fell off the wagon with Inktober but I managed to get a little over half way done. Here are the rest of them if you're curious to see. Some of them turned out better and some worse than I expected but it was still a fun little exercise I was able to do for the month.

The job hunt is still on but I'm trying to stay optimistic. I'm glad to have a good part time job for now but I really feel like I'm not doing as well as I hoped. Still fighting and doing my best, that's all I can do after all, isn't it? lol

Well, going to try to get some posts prepared for Nanowrimo so I won't have an excuse to not get it done this month. :D Hope you guys are ready for a bunch of Nanowrimo posts with little excerpts! lol

Inktober 2014 + Birthday

Hey guys! So I decided last minute to do Inktober but I ended up already messing up a few days in. XD These are more like sketches than actual ink drawings but at least it's something and I'm getting them done, right? lol Actually I had to catch up, but fortunately I was never more than a day or two behind. haha Those of you following my twitter or tumblr know that I've been struggling to keep up but I hope to keep it going.

My goal was to draw things I don't usually draw so some things look better than others but I tried to use references. Started a new sketchbook just for this. lol It's the little things, right? ^_~ For those of you who are curious. I'm using Noodler's Lexington Gray ink and a JinHao x750 fountain pen with a Fude nib. I'm still getting used to using that. It's harder than I thought to use. haha

My birthday is next week! I'm not sure what I'm going to do but it probably will be mostly uneventful. I'll probably still do dinner with friends and family. The challenges of getting older. XD Not sure if I'll splurge on buying myself something...Kind of already have almost everything I want. lol There are a few minor "wants" but nothing I really need. haha I should just try to read and mess around with my hobbies.

Oh I cleared out my old watercolor palette and exchanged the paints for slightly better paints. Switched from Artist Loft to Van Gogh. lol It's still a student quality paint but I read it's one of the highest student quality paint and I do like it better than my old Artist Loft. I still have the paint in a different palette so nothing will go to waste. ^_~ Been playing around with those as I'm still a novice with those.

Job search is still on. Trying to keep my head up and keep applying. Still working on Blindfolded Love's ending. Since I was busy with interviews the last few weeks I wasn't able to finish the end as I'd like but I'm still close. Going to see if I can work on that this weekend. :D Wish me luck! Still looking for Beta Readers so contact me if you're interested!

Review: 1st Annual Big Comic Show

Hey everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts the last few weeks. Been recuperating the best I can especially with the holiday weekend and family coming over. Then I ended up focusing on writing for Campnanowrimo

Today I wanted to talk about the first Annual Big Comic Show (you can even see a rare photo of me on their page!) that happened in May hosted by a local library.

I arrived later than I would have liked. I live within 20-30 minutes but I still took a wrong turn and kept hitting all the lights so I made it much later than I would have liked. XD It didn't quite help that it rained that day too so it was deterring to most people from coming on a Saturday. When I did arrive there was a sign that told us which was our table or we could ask a librarian. We also got a couple little Hershey's nuggets with a welcome note which I thought was sweet (thank you!).

I was the last to set up in the room but there were some kind offerings of help that I had to turn down because I wasn't sure how I was setting everything up. The thing is, I haven't had a whole table to myself in awhile. I usually share with someone so it was strange having all this room. lol

Anyways, since it was the first year I didn't expect much sale-wise and while the people were kind and interested, I didn't make any sales. Not completely surprising since it is their first year and I can't complain too much since the tables were free but it would have been nice to recuperate some of the gas and time it took to get there. I think most people were interested in purchasing comics which as you all know I don't have any yet. Well I have some mini-comics completed but I am not satisfied with them and I didn't get any printed in time which was my fault. Still it was awesome to meet people and to talk to everyone.

The nice thing is that it was cool to meet all the other artists/comic creators in the local area. I haven't met some of them before so it was awesome to be able to network with a few of them. Overall, I had a good time and would like to attend next year if possible! :D

Now for all the photos!

I checked the time and realized it was getting late and that I still needed to shower. I hopped out of the pool and grabbed my towel. When I pulled it up something fluttered to the ground. I picked it up and saw it was a name and phone number. Seriously? Ok. She was way too young for me. I crumpled it up and tossed it. I then walked to the locker room and felt the glare of the life guard from earlier. Great...I'll have to watch my back next time I come here.

I showered quickly this time even though I longed to stay under the steaming heat of the shower. I changed and left the locker room. I lifted my head and saw something move by the door. I shook my head. I needed to stop being paranoid.

I left the gym and headed home glad it was a close walk. Something made the hairs on the back of my neck stand and I turned around. I didn't see anything and I didn't know what made me hyper aware that something or someone was watching me.

It was getting unnerving.

I glanced at my timer and shook my head. "No regrets," I whispered to myself. I stared down at the water watching my reflection. I could see I was tired from the lack of sleep. Luckily I didn't need to be on camera at all tomorrow otherwise they was going to need a lot of make up to cover up the bags under my eyes.

My eyes drifted back towards the cabin where Victoria thundered off to and a lit window caught my eye. There was a person staring out the window. I could see the silhouette but before I could identify who it was the light shut off. I didn't need to guess who it was though because I knew it was Victoria's room.
After staring awhile I turned away and pulled my hood over my head to help block out the chill from the wind. I slipped my hand into my pocket retrieving my phone. I pressed the power button and it immediately purred to life. I didn't bother to hide the smile that appeared on my face. I went to check my email and decided to play some games as I continued to sit outside through the night.

I stood up, "Why is my love life being analyzed by you guys? Is it that surprising that I can't have a serious non-romantic female friend?" I asked jabbing my fingers at both Amelia and Zadie. Amelia looked slightly embarrassed while Zadie wrinkled her nose.

The coffee beeped and Sedric went to get some cups that were sitting on the drying rack. I crossed over to the coffee as Sedric poured for everyone.

Amelia held up a placating hand, "While it's true you are able to have a platonic relationship, we feel that there is a little more between you two."

I took a sip relenting, "Fine. IF there is something going on, please explain it to me."

She slid a sidelong glance at the others. Turning to Sedric she said, "Maybe you should have a go at it."

Momentarily stunned at being put on the spot Sedric coughed on his coffee. "Why me?"

Amelia looked up at him, "You can explain it more to him from a male's perspective."

Dylan put his head on his cupped hands, his elbows on the table. "Daddy, will you tell us about the birds and the bees?"

I shook my head, "No. There's too many inconsistencies. I know they were murdered." I ran my hands through my hair, "I just don't know by who or why."

Mason opened his mouth to say something but suddenly there was a knock on the door. "Mason? Chase? Are you guys in there?" Mason stood straighter and I knew it was Victoria. I recognized her voice.

"Yeah! Be out in a second!" he called.

I raised an eyebrow at him. He looked at me and cringed, "Too eager?"

I snorted and shook my head and pulled out my cell phone, "What's your number? Let's finish this conversation another time. Preferably after work."

He stared at me a moment before realizing what I was saying. He quickly rattled off his number and I sent him mine. Afterwards we exited the bathroom where Victoria and Grace was waiting.

Graced sniffed, "And I thought girls took a long time in the bathroom."

8th Annual Ohioana Book Festival 2014 Review

As some of you know I attended the local Ohioana Book Festival! Unfortunately I didn't take as many photos as I thought I would but I thought I'd share the few I've taken and share my experiences. :)

This was the first time I attended the event and it was interesting! Found a bunch of new authors I've never heard of which was pretty neat. I don't usually go around searching for new authors since I have plenty to read but it still doesn't stop me from looking when I hear good things from them. XD

I guess first off I should mention I arrived later than I had hoped. Around 1pm when it opens at 10pm. I ended up sleeping in but then it started to rain. At first it was just a little sprinkle which was tolerable but then it ended up pouring. That caused the freeway traffic from where I was coming from to slow down to a crawl so I took an early exit trying to find a way to the location. After a bunch of detours and taking unfamiliar side streets I finally made it there but it took an extra 20 minutes because the side street traffic was horrible as well. It didn't help that the rain got worse. It pounded on my car and made my visibility poor especially through that curtain of gray rain.

Review: Shoplet Featuring Regency Guest Chair

I was granted the privilege of reviewing Shoplet's latest product, the Regency Guest Chair.

I received the product super quick and was pleased to receive it well packaged. I didn't have to worry at all about scratches or if anything would be torn so if you're having it delivered you have little worries here. All the frames and legs were carefully protected.

First thing I want to mention. Don't be deceived like I was, this chair is larger than it looks! I didn't really understand how big it was when I saw the dimensions of 22"W x 23"D x 34"H. I'm a below average size/height person so it's huge for me. I could sit cross legged in it comfortably. The arms do get in the way a little but I can sit at an angle and it's no problem then. So beware, if you're interested, make sure you know its dimensions!

I stopped myself from rubbing my hands on my thighs, "Grace didn't exactly give me a choice."

She softened a bit, "Yeah she can be like that sometimes." After a moment I wondered if she was still mad but instead she said, "Well if we're that bad of company for you we can all go our separate ways after this."

Turning around I gaped, that wasn't what I wanted. "Wait!" She turned around looking at me hauntingly. I was going to have to tell her the truth. Defeated I said, "Look, Dylan is interested in you guys. I was trying to find a way to get out of his way." I rubbed the back of my neck, "Apparently he thinks you both are more interested in me than him."

Victoria turned red, "That's absurd."

Relieved I laughed, "That's what I said." I stood a little straighter, "I just wanted him to have a little more one-on-one time with you guys so I was going to have a little get away afterwards."

A library meeting was a good idea, hopefully it would be secluded enough and no one would be nosy enough to eavesdrop on us.

Soon we were sitting in the library at one of the tables in a corner. I could hear the wind picking up but I felt safe enough for now. The rain was pattering so I knew the hurricane was just starting. I had been flipping through a magazine but wasn't really paying attention. I was too wound up. I glanced around and there didn't seem to be too many people in there at the moment with most of the people still trying to settle in for the long haul.

Eddy and Leah finally made their way to us. They looked like they would fall over at the slightest gust of wind.

Eddy straightened up and leaned towards us in a low voice, "So what did you need to talk to us about?"
I glanced at Dylan who stared back at me with a haunted expression. It appears that he heard or saw what happened too at John's final moments. "It's about the timer," I responded cryptically.

Once the door closed Chase scoffed, "You know it'd be better if they told us where the heck they found out about these things."

Layla shook her head, "Sometime things are better not to be messed with because they aren't meant to be understood."

"Is that what you think?" I asked arms resting on the ledge.

She shrugged, "I don't know what to think but I think we should trust them."

"I agree. I think they would let us know when they're ready," Dylan said as traced the water absently.

"True, they are good at explaining when ready but they're not so good at things before then," I muttered. The others bowed their heads in silent agreement.

Dylan finally broke the silence, "That's it. I'm done with all this downer talk. I'm done spending all my time worrying during my vacation. Let's play." He splashed all of us and grabbed for a nearby basketball spinning it on his finger, "Ok, who want's to play HORSE?"

Homework Sketch Dump 27 + April Campnanowrimo 2014

I'm still working on CampNanoWrimo stuff. Mostly outlines and trying to figure out the story line/time line. Yeah I know that's kind of vague but the week before April I'll go ahead and give a brief summary of the story. It'll be interesting as I've been bouncing the idea off a few friends who appear to be extremely interested in the story. I still have a few kinks I need to work out though. lol

Speaking of that, would anyone be interested in joining my cabin this April Campnano? My username is "aisazia" and since it has to be a mutual acceptance you'll have to share your username with me. :) The only thing I ask is that you'll be active. I've done it before but my cabin mate quickly fell off the wagon...Hoping to not have that happen this time around.

Comment or contact me if you're interested! :)
